Transforming My Health, One Day at a Time

It took an 80 lb weight gain and a diabetes diagnosis to light a fire under my rapidly expanding butt…

To decide to re-evaluate my blind faith in medical doctors and realize I had to take my health into my own hands.

I had trusted them implicitly, popping every pill they prescribed without a second thought.

Until those medications turned my life upside down – I ended up with NAFLD (non-alcoholic fatty liver disease), diabetes, heart palpitations, and uncontrollable weight gain.

When I got to the point that I couldn’t recognize the woman staring back at me in the bathroom mirror, I decided enough was enough.

So, I weaned myself off all the meds I was on – some treating a disease and others treating the conditions those meds had caused.

Because the truth is, while there's a place for conventional/western medicine, it’s not the only answer.

As my late grandmother used to say: “health enters through the mouth.”

Sounds way cooler in Portuguese, but you get the drift… In essence, you are what you eat.

And the unfortunate truth is that most doctors in Canada and the U.S. know little to nothing about nutrition. They barely cover it in med school. In fact, less than 20% of medical schools in North America have a single required course in nutrition!

But here's the kicker: studies have shown that nutrition and lifestyle play a crucial role in preventing, treating, and sometimes reversing many chronic diseases, such as Cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, Obesity, Fatty Liver Disease, and Hypertension, to name just a few.

So, this girl is on a mission to reclaim her health through Lifestyle Medicine. Through what she eats, how she moves, and the way she lives.

I am Analena Mandlsohn. Some of you may know me as the Broker/Owner of HomeLife Optimum Realty. But I’m also a middle-aged, menopausal, chocaholic, Lifestyle Medicine Advocate on a mission to reverse my chronic health conditions through nutrition and lifestyle changes.

So, come along for the ride and witness my transformation as I reclaim my health.

Fair warning: I might get a little murderous when I give up chocolate, but I promise to be transparent and vulnerable. I'll share the ups, the downs, the breakthroughs, and the setbacks.

All in the hope that my journey inspires you to take control of your health.

Let’s do this together!
